whoops, forgot to do things on tuesday

Loathing:

the loads of work i have to do in the next two weeks. i HATE contacting parents. i avoid it at all costs. can't wait till that is over
going to miss the kids
my yearbook's cover is coming off. have no idea if one of the kids was too rough with it, or if the glue was just not good on it.
that most jobs i'm applying for right now are looking for people RIGHT NOW, i am not even available for an interview until june 9th.
this week is so busy i don't know what to do with myself. argh!
not having enough hours in the day to feel fully productive and relaxed, no balance
still no call from that place
nothing on tv
expensive pfizer scrips
being tired ALL THE TIME. (doc lowered a med, let's see if this works. i would like to be the person who wakes up in time to actually eat breakfast and take a crap, not at the same time of course)

Loving:

that there isn't a lot of loathing this week.
weekend trip to the gym for swimming and lounging around
that on friday i'm going to start yoga with mary, i'm EXCITED.
school is almost over. so close i can taste it
someone called based on the resumes i posted on monster and careerbuilder. however she wants an interview now, see above.
she will keep me on her list and if they're still looking on june 9 they will call
my kids LOVE me. they think i am AWESOME. (man am i going to miss them)
applied to two jobs today
going to quit smoking. my psych gave me a scrip for chantix, however, it costs 151 dollars, because my insurance doesn't cover it. so i weighed the pros and cons and decided that it's cheaper and better in the long run to give this a serious chance. i pick them up tomorrow. cross your fingers for me. i'm SCARED. i've smoked on and off for almost 11 years. and i do not want to be the person who smoked for 20 + years. this is not to say i will never again in my life ever smoke another single cigarette. but i do not want to be a habitual almost pack a day smoker ever again in LIFE. i can't do any sort of cardio with any sort of efficiency. i get winded going from the porch to the couch after a cigarette. that is not a good thing at all. just plain tired of it. ready to quit, scared to quit. it's going to be hardest in traffic, because i must be doing something. talking on the phone, eating, something. and it's going to be hard to quit because i will want one every time i get into the car. the car and talking on the phone are my main triggers for smoking. so if i have your phone number be expecting phone calls when i'm driving. i'm counting on you! i couldn't do the patch thing cause it wouldnt' kick in until midday and during the first periods of the day i was wanting to kill teenagers. can't do that, now can i?
blair baked a cake. it was yummy. he baked it for his brother's birthday. his brother passed away when he was an infant. weird thing: his brother and my brother were born within days of each other in the same year, and they both have the same name.
we made chicken and shrimp stirfry tonight. it was also yummy
tomorrow we're making stuffed cabbage again with the special ground chicken and turkey mix.
listening to QUEEN in the car. oh yes. some of these songs i haven't heard in over ten years, still i have them all memorized in the recesses of my brain.

A head nuzzled into the hollow between neck and shoulder, tail furled around the throat like a scarf, feeling the vibration of an unceasing purr. Forcing yourself to step back into your own world after reading a favourite tale of fictitious loves that spun on to their inevitable conclusion, leaving you bereft of your vicarious companions. Steam rising from that first cup of coffee, delivered to the bedside table with the sunrise. Faded, sepia-tinted wedding portraits, proudly displayed on walls where the once-fashionable paper has begun to peel, on varnished sideboards with slightly chipped scrollwork, on rickety wooden easels that have seen better days. A voice that mellows from annoyance to affection. Water soaking into the soil for thirsty roots to drink, delivered by a soil-streaked hand with dirt-encrusted nails. A dog's head hanging out the window, tongue lolling as he smiles because the wind is tickling his whiskers. The aroma of savoury home-cooked meals, clean laundry dancing on the line, Vanilla Fridge Wipe on the countertops. Strains of Billie Holiday singing "... I'll be seeing you, in all the old familiar places that this heart of mine embraces ..."

Memories, old and new, lost and found.

I feel a fool, for seeking love in all the wrong places when all along, it was staring me right in the face. I just didn't care to see it.

car salesmen - why are they all so smarmy?
gas prices
upgrading my computer to Leopard - it just took me too freakin' long and some of my stuff doesn't work right still!! Why can't stuff just work? Why do you have to erase and install rather than just upgrade? Why can't these computer companies get it right before unleashing stuff into the general public? I mean if the "average" computer user went thru what I just did, it would have taken them weeks!
feeling fat and bloated
that I am totally neglecting to get enough sleep
the 52 weeks self portrait challenge -- well I don't really loathe it but it's getting harder to accomplish a photo a week and that frustrates me (to the right is my 21/52)

I do not like:

Rescheduled appointment for shoulder pain (must wait extra week and resist urge to do added damage during that time), but it’s still good to know it’s gonna be looked at eventually.
Muki’s breath.
PMS. I think I’m ready for menopause. Bring it on.
Feeling generally imbalanced.

I do like:

The new Masterpiece Theatre production of A Room with a View.* The 1985 Merchant-Ivory film is one of my all-time favorite movies ever, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying this production very much. In mine humble opine, the young lead actors in the new production have a better chemistry than those in earlier film, though the film trumps with many more elements including Maggie Smith, the glorious shots of the Tuscan countryside (especially the one just before the storm), and Julian Sands’s tush in the “come and have a bathe” scene.
The sidewalk across the street has finally been repaired.
Gentle reality checks.
Divine-brand 70% dark chocolate (most divine in the 1.5 oz size bar).
Kale-pepperjack enchilada.
SIFF starts next week. Yay!

*Forster is another writer whose stories I’ve tended to enjoy more on the screen than in reading, though now I’m in the mood to re-read this one.

Belated Things on Tuesday - 5/14/08

I completely forgot about posting.

Boo!:

parasites. they are cramping our style here. my friend's kids want to see Puka, but I won't let them until she gets closer to being parasite-free. I let adults see her, but make sure to keep a bottle of Wet Ones handy, just to be on the safe side.
not having inspiration. I haven't opened up my sketch book in a month, maybe more. I haven't been inspired to do anything. I don't like this. I want to be able to pick up and draw whatever. it doesn't happen.
haven't been to the gym in over a week. since getting Puka, I've been bringing her to work, keeping he company and making sure she's doing okay. plus, I have to give her eye ointment twice a day (although we've been slacking a little on this, but I keep up as best I can). I miss going to the gym. I'm gonna start up next week for sure, when I start leaving Puka at home.
gas prices.
cost of living in Hawai'i.
constant reminders that I will never get to live anywhere but here. Pearl Harbor is celebrating its 100th anniversary. It is now being considered somewhat of a "national treasure" and so they will be doing upgrades and such... so it just reminds me of how stable Pearl Harbor is, compared to Puget Sound or San Diego. I'll never get to move.
unresponsive property managers and maintenance crew. Last week, I went to the restroom, and one of the toilets was clogged. I went to use the other one, and a lady came in and flushed the clogged toilet... causing it to overflow. The water started spilling all over the floor and I had to lift up one leg to avoid it. yuck. I called the property manager to get the maintenance guy out to fix it. I had to LEAVE A VOICE MAIL FOR HER. and you know what? I don't think they have mopped the floor yet. I think it air-dried and they didn't clean up the floor, because there are still little bits of toilet paper near the drain on the floor. double yuck.

Yay!:

kitty getting bigger and keeping very active. Puka naps a lot, like all cats, but she runs around and pounces her toys and our feet and crumpled pieces of paper... she's a lot of fun.
getting my teeth cleaned by the oral hygienist. I love the feeling of freshly cleaned teeth.
Indian food. I took my mom and brother (his birthday is May 12) to Maharani for dinner on Sunday night. Luckily we got there early enough to avoid standing in line (they don't take reservations). I forgot to take pictures... oh well, I guess I'll just have to go again!
word games. I like word games.
my boss. he's a really laid back guy who understands that, when there isn't any work going on, there isn't any work going on.
getting ready for parties. we're having a going away party for my boss on Friday night, at the assistant manager's house. Saturday, there's a party out in Hawai'i Kai. We also have a Rock Band Party for the end of the month.
sleeping in. I slept 'til 11:30 on Sunday. it was nice.
spending money AND helping someone at the same time. we've decided to use part of our stimulus package to buy my boss' television. it's a big screen tv and he's selling it for less than what he paid for it, even though he's only had it for about 5 months. I was hoping to get it for a little less than that, but I think he's a little cheap and doesn't realize used items don't hold their value like they should. oh well.. it's helping him out.

Things I Loathe....

1. Having to drive 30 miles round-trip DAILY to Dinky-town, USA (aka Tuscola, TX) for the sole purpose of working all day at an extremely UNFULFILLING job, which bores me blind (therefore, the glasses) and makes me slightly resentful that I do 90% of the workload, yet HE'S the one getting to enjoy the thousands of dollars profit that is being made daily. He pays me well, but as far as the work vs. pay ratio, I'm totally getting shafted. Big time.

2. Boyfriends that whine nearly EVERY DAY about when I'm going to let them move in with me. (preferably never)

3. Waking up in the morning. Or any other time in a 24-hour day. (i.e. I hate waking up EVER.)

4. Paying the State of Texas to drive My. Own. Car. (yearly registration is just stupid and excessive)

Things I Love....

1. Reading, drinking coffee, and smoking for hours.

2. Gardening, drinking coffee, and smoking for hours.

3. Coming home to a sparkly clean house that I didn't have to clean myself. (See Housekeeper = Best. Decision. Ever.)

4. Loving, petting, and kissing on my cats as if my life depended on it.

Great episodes of my favorite tv shows (Bones, CSI, Criminal Minds, etc).
Being able to write again.

Getting to sleep in.
